About Families for Families
Families For Families (“FFF”) started in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2004 when a group of women decided that we wanted to give back to the community and find a way to involve our young children in charity work. Based on the personal connection of some members of our group, we contacted the Hamilton County YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter. What started as bringing monthly dinners to the shelter has grown ever since.
FFF is a multi-purpose group of volunteers providing direct and indirect support to survivors of domestic violence. Since 2004, FFF has served monthly dinners at the Hamilton County YWCA Battered Women’s Shelter. In addition, FFF has provided the Shelter with clothing, food and other donated supplies throughout the year and children’s toys and gifts throughout the holiday season. FFF raised more than $5,000 for a playground set that was installed at the Shelter in 2007.
FFF’s newest initiatives include helping women in transition as they move to independent living situations and working to support the MediShare program providing medications for underinsured residents of the Battered Women’s Shelter. We also donate a monthly pizza-party to celebrate all the children at the shelter whose birthday falls into that month.
FFF’s team of dedicated volunteers raises awareness about domestic violence and instills an ethic of service and outreach by involving entire families in its community service outreach program. Thanks to the generous donation of their time and resources, the team of FFF volunteers has made a difference in the lives of women and children who have been victims of domestic violence.
Families for Families believes all people deserve to live free from the repercussions of domestic violence. Through raising public awareness, advocacy, and direct support to survivors, Families for Families aims to helping women and children rebuild their lives after violence, while instilling an ethic of service in our youth.
